EASY STAR ALL-STARS BRING LIVE DUB SIDE OF THE MOON TO EUROPE AND SOUTH AMERICA IN 2006

Popular Reggae Band Set to Debut in Seven Different Countries on Two Continents, While Preparing to Release a Live DVD and a New Record

Monday, FEB 20, 2006—The Easy Star All-Stars—whose reggae version of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon has spent over two years on Billboard’s Top Reggae Charts and sold over 85,000 copies worldwide—will bring their critically acclaimed live show to France, Italy and Croatia during a European tour in March and Argentina and Brazil during a South American tour in May. The Brazilian dates follow the first ever release of the Dub Side of the Moon album in Brazil through label Deckdisc. “We have wanted to set up tours to these countries for a while now, because we know how much they love reggae music and Pink Floyd,” Easy Star Vice President Lem Oppenheimer said. “For the band, it’s an exciting opportunity to travel to new places and play for what should be very enthusiastic audiences.”

The band played over 50 shows in 2005, including appearances at Reggae On The Rocks, The Glade, the Ragga Muffin Bob Marley Bash; headlining tours across the US, a co-headlining tour with label mates John Brown’s Body on the West Coast; and two high profile weddings, including New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg’s daughter’s in June. At the end of the busy year, the group worked on two projects that will be released on Easy Star Records in 2006: In September, they taped a performance of the Dub Side of the Moon show. That will be released as a DVD in the spring.. The rest of the fall was spent recording tracks for the long awaited follow up to Dub Side, which was revealed this week to be a reggae version of Radiohead’s OK Computer., which will include guest vocal appearances by Horace Andy, Morgan Heritage, Frankie Paul and many more. The CD is due for a September 2006 release.

All of this should translate into phenomenal shows during these two international tours. Each show will include a complete play of Dub Side of the Moon, which has evolved into one of the most mind-blowing musical experiences on the road today. The Easy Star All-Stars, however, performs much more than just Dub Side, including a wide array of original songs, reggae standards, and perhaps even some early live debuts of material from the OK Computer sessions.

The current touring version of the Easy Star All-Stars features a stellar line-up of musicians who have toured and recorded with Gil Scott-Heron, Burning Spear, Toots and the Maytals, The Toasters, The Meditations, Bernie Worrell, DJ Logic, MC Solaar, Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra, Diana King, Dennis Brown, Monty Alexander, Sister Carol, and many others.
