EASY STAR ALL-STARS KEEP DUB SIDE OF THE MOON ON THE ROAD
IN AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER
The Band Makes its First Trip Ever to Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana
in August; Returns to the Mid-Atlantic in September.
Monday, August 15, 2005—The Easy Star All-Stars—whose reggae
version of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon spent over 100 weeks
on Billboard’s Top Reggae Chart and is still making a mark on the
Reggae Catalog Chart—continue their Summer touring in August and
September. Already in 2005, The All-Stars have had 25 shows, including
a week of shows in California (including a slot in the gigantic Ragga
Muffin Bob Marley Day Festivals) in February; sharing the stage with
Roni Size and Rahzel at Miami’s Ultra Music Fest; opening the Twilight
Dance Series at Santa Monica Pier in late June, playing for over 7,000
people; playing five strong shows in a return to the United Kingdom;
and performing at New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg’s daughter’s
June wedding, which earned the group plenty of New York press. As usual,
most shows featured the band’s original reggae tunes and a complete
playing of Dub Side of the Moon.
The new dates will bring the band to Colorado for the first time, where
they will help headline the annual Reggae On The Rocks festival at the
legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre. From there, the band will make its
live debut in Aspen, CO; Albuquerque, NM; Austin, TX; and New Orleans,
LA. In September, the band will play Ortley Beach, NJ on Labor Day Weekend,
then return to familiar stomping grounds in DC, Charlottesville and Baltimore.
The current touring version of the Easy Star All-Stars features a truly
stellar line-up of musicians who have toured and recorded with Gil Scott-Heron,
Burning Spear, Toots and the Maytals, The Toasters, The Meditations,
Bernie Worrell, DJ Logic, MC Solaar, Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra, The
Scofflaws, Diana King, Dennis Brown, Monty Alexander, Sister Carol, and
many others.
