EASY STAR ALL-STARS KICK OFF 2005 DUB SIDE OF THE
MOON TOURING SCHEDULE
The band will play New York, Baltimore, California, and beyond in 2005.
Wednesday, January 5, 2005—The Easy Star All-Stars, whose
reggae version of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon just completed
its 94th week on Billboard’s Top Reggae Chart, begin a new round
of touring in January with a pair of shows in New York and Baltimore.
The group wowed audiences on both coasts in 2004, playing a wide range
of dates and further honing their impressive, engaging live show. The
All-Stars play a home town gig on January 12th at New York’s legendary
Knitting Factory, followed two days later by a stop in Baltimore
at the Funk Box. As usual, each show will feature a set
of original reggae and a complete playing of Dub Side of the Moon.
In late February, the group returns to California for the first time since
storming the Golden State last August. This time around, the All-Stars
will appear at the huge Bob Marley Day Festivals in Long Beach and San
Francisco, as well as play engagements in Fresno, San Luis Obispo, Santa
Cruz, Sacramento, and Tahoe.
The band is also set to travel to Argentina and other countries in South
America in April to meet the growing demand for their music on that side
of the world.
2004 was a strong year for the act, as it played major festivals like
Northern California’s Reggae On The River and the U.K.’s Big
Chill; sold out shows in England; played a week of shows in California,
netting a cover story in MetroSantaCruz along the way; and played one-off
shows in Miami, Washington DC, Baltimore, Charlottesville (VA), Providence
(RI), and the Hamptons. This followed 25 shows in late 2003 along the
Atlantic Seaboard and in the Midwest. All along, the band’s album
Dub Side of the Moon has continued to sell in the U.S. and abroad, making
it one of the most successful reggae albums of the 21st century worldwide.
The current touring version of the Easy Star All-Stars feature a truly
stellar line-up of musicians who have toured and recorded with Gil
Scott-Heron, Burning Spear, Toots and the Maytals, The Toasters, The Meditations,
Bernie Worrell, DJ Logic, MC Solaar, Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra, The
Scofflaws, Diana King, Dennis Brown, Monty Alexander, Sister Carol,
and many others.
