JBB FINISHED UP MIX OF PRESSURE POINTS
December 15, 2004, New York City
In September, Easy Star announced the signing of John Brown’s
Body to the label. Three months later, as 2004 begins to come to
a close, we’re happy to bring an update.
JBB has tracked the entire album, PRESSURE POINTS, over the last
three months. The work was done primarily at Pyramid Studio in Ithaca,
New York, where the band recorded THIS DAY. Once again, Alex Perialis
(Genuwine, Missy Elliot, Anthrax) has been on board as co-producer
and engineer, helping to create the best sounding JBB album yet.
The production has featured a few guest appearances by past John
Brown’s Body family members, such as Lee Hamilton and Josh
Driscoll, plus a vocal cameo by the legendary Meditations, one of
Jamaica’s best loved vocal groups.
The album features many songs that have been an integral part of
the band’s set list for the past few years, as well as some
entirely new tunes.
The track list is (not in it’s final sequence):
Bread
Follow Into Shadow
Heart & Soul
Full Control
Blazing Love
New Blood
Not Enough
Resonate
Pressure Points
Make It Easy
What We Gonna Do?
Pickin’ Up
Easy Star principals Eric Smith and Lem Oppenheimer have been working
closely with the band throughout the production. The pair has been
involved in helping JBB to shape its raw material into a timeless
album. “It’s been a great experience for us,”
Oppenheimer says. “The JBB crew has been open to our suggestions
while still bringing their own incredible ideas and dedication to
the table. I really expect great things for this album when all
is said and done.”
Look for the release in mid-April, but if you can’t wait for
the album to drop, the band will be playing some select shows between
now and the release tour.
